Surrey manager Chris Adams hails Jade Dernbach’s inclusion in England Test squad
The manager of Surrey cricket county, and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)’s decision of inserting Jade Dernbach in the national squad as replacement for James Anderson.
English side notched a comprehensive innings and 14-runs victory over, due to his side strain. Almost immediately after Anderson’s exit, ECB brought
in Dernbach who plays domestic cricket for Surrey.
The decision was widely appreciated by cricketing circles as the 25-year old fast bowler has proved his worth in the first-class cricket. Dernbach has participated in 60 first-class matches in which he picked up 170 wickets.
Adams also joined the party and claimed that Dernbach has all the potential to make a good impression at the highest level. The Surrey manager further described that Dernbach has a great passion for the game which helps him perform well under pressure.
"It's every cricketer's ambition to represent their country, it's fantastic for Jade and I'm delighted for him as are all his team-mates. He is exactly the kind of character that you would want in the team and the type of cricketer we are trying to produce
here at Surrey,” said Adams.
Adams has been shouldering his responsibilities as manager since December 2011 and recently got his contract extended with the county for next two years. Although, the manager seemed unhappy with worsening condition of Anderson’s injury, he referred Dernbach
as the perfect bowler to fill his in the Test squad.
"He would run through brick walls for his team. He has lots of skill and ability and we have drilled the commitment and discipline into his game. Now he is reaping the rewards," the manager added.
Although, Dernach failed to earn a place in the playing eleven for the ongoing second Test at Lord’s, Adam is hopeful that the pacer will soon storm into the side. Meanwhile, the manager expressed his delight over the inclusion of players in the national
side. Two Surrey cricketers, and Chris Tremlett, are already in the team and Dernbach is also likely to make his debut during this season.
