England’s Jade Dernbach rates Twenty20 series against as crucial – Cricket News Update next year will hold great importance for the English team.
The Poms were victorious in the previous version of the Twenty20 World Cup and will be expecting a title defence in 2012. However, the team realises that things will not be easy for them in the Mega Event.
England will hosts two Twenty20 games against West Indies in October and Dernbach was looking forward to performing in those matches, as he rated them as a good preparation for the World Cup.
According to the youngster, “With the World Twenty20 next year any games we can get will be vitally important. There are only a few matches before then so these two games form quite an integral part of the plans and processes for that tournament.”
Apart from doing well as a team, Dernbach aims to deliver on individual level as well in order to impress the selectors. He stated, “I would love to be involved in a Twenty20 World Cup - that would be a dream come true. I just want to do as well as possible
in every match and if we can win some games we will take some momentum into that competition.”
Last time when the English side won the World Cup was under veteran all-rounder However, his performances in the recent past have not been good, forcing the selectors to drop him from the side.
