Premier League Match Report: Liverpool vs Manchester United

Manchester United traveled to Anfield to take on Liverpool in a Premier League match. The game was going to be a hotly contested one, given the fact that both the teams were now desperate to pick up three points from the game.
The match kicked off with Kagawa creating the first chance of the game in the 7th minute, as he played a ball to Giggs who barely missed his shot.
Two minutes later Gerrard went on to strike a shot from the edge of the box, but he failed to put his effort on target.
Before the first half came to an end, Shelvey was shown a straight red for a two-footed lunge on Evans. As a result, the reds were reduced to ten men early on.
The second half saw come out with a bang and right away, they managed to score the opening goal of the game. went on to control the ball inside the box in the 46th minute and then went on to strike a shot into the back of the net with a left footed volley.
However, United equalised five minutes later as Rafael scored with a shot from inside the box. The full back latched onto a ball that was chested down by Kagawa, and he went on to curl the bar into the far post with his weaker foot.
United were then awarded a penalty in the 76th minute as Johnson went on to take out in the area. The referee didn’t hesitate while making the decision and pointed to the spot right away.
After a long break, due to Agger getting injured, Van Persie stepped up to take the spot kick. The Dutchman shot the ball into the right hand side of the goal, and despite Reina guessing the trajectory of the ball correctly he couldn’t keep the ball out
of the net.
As a result, United went on to take a very late lead in the game and looked certain to go on and win the game.
The Red Devils then went on to hold their lead, which saw them claim all three points from the game.
