Cleveland Indians receive 3-5 hammering from Kansas City Royals – MLB Recap
Cleveland Indians received 3-5 hammering from the Kansas City Royals in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Saturday, September 22 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
Billy Butler did well on his four at-bats and earned a great victory for his team. He maintained his slugging percentage at .508 and ran for an RBI as well.
"I said last year Billy was a 30-100 RBI guy, He's got some work to do. I think Billy is capable of being a huge run producer in the American League, that guy that's capable of having 120, He just keeps getting better and better. He hit a double off (Ubaldo) Jimenez, it was a curveball where he started and stopped and blasted it,” Kansas City Royals' manager Ned Yost said later in the game regarding Billy’s contribution.
Later, Butler commented in the media and talked to reporters with confidence as he told them all the details of his game saying, "You start off the season with a goal in mind and obviously being in the middle of the lineup and a run producer, that's a big goal, It's great to get behind you and keep playing."
Along with Butler, the Royals' shortstop Alcides Escobar also did well and earned a decisive victory for his team.
He scored one run and smashed one hit along with an RBI on his .391 slugging percentage.
First baseman Eric Hosmer added one RBI on his single hit. He also did well on his four at-bats while he also maintained his slugging percentage at .369.
On the other hand, the Royals’ pitchers also played well and kept the Indians under pressure.
Starter Will Smith tossed seven innings and received two runs and eight hits along with one homer. He retired five potential Indians’ batters and remained consistent on his 4.88 ERA.
Relief pitcher Aaron Crow pitched one inning and received one run and one hit. He struck-out one batter while he kept his cool on the mound and maintained his ERA at 3.36.
Closer Kelvin Herrera finished well for the Royals as he did not receive any run while he also maintained his ERA at 2.33.
