The Borussia Dortmund striker is focussed despite recent reports that he is keen to leave the club at the end of the season. has confirmed that he is unfazed by his current contract talks and wants to win silverware with the Borussians this season. He stated that his priority is to lead the Black Yellows to their successive title triumph
irrespective of his transfer talks in the German media.
The striker admitted that his agent and the club bosses had a meeting but is not aware of any contract offers made. Lewandowski specified that his focus is primarily on playing for Dortmund and he is not thinking about leaving
the Borussians at the end of this campaign.
If reports are to be believed, the international was recently offered a contract extension by Dortmund officials. However, the attacker’s agent rejected the proposal, citing unfair financial terms. The agent believed that
the club must come up with renewed offer for the in-form striker.
While talking to a local newspaper, Bild, the 23-year-old Polish striker further added:
“I don’t know anything about a contract offer or the conditions in it. I only know that my agent has spoken with the bosses at Dortmund. I am only concerned with the rest of the Bundesliga season and then Euro 2012 with Poland.”
The agent’s remarks have left Dortmund furious as the club did not want the terms of the new deal to remain confidential. The German champions wanted to extend the Polish internationals current deal which ends in 2014.
Lewandowski has had a phenomenal campaign so far with the Borussians having scored 16 league goals from 24 appearances. The striker’s recent form has prompted interest from many top clubs but English giants
are being considered serious contenders to sign the striker.
On the other hand, Dortmund bosses are desperate to hold on to their prized asset at least until the end of his current contract.
Borussia Dortmund are currently atop the league standings with 56 points and their next test will come against Werder Bremen on Saturday, March 17, at the Signal Iduna Park.
