Describing the ongoing fifth edition of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) as a dream tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders’ mystery spinner, Sunil Narine, expressed satisfaction over his performance so far in the
cash-rich tournament and hoped to continue the hard work in future.
The rookie batting line-up to return with
startling figures of 4 for 15 in 3.1 overs.
The Caribbean spinner, who was bought by King Khan’s Knight Riders for 700,000 US dollars in February’s player auction, credited the good show in his maiden IPL tournament to the hard work he has been doing since getting
a call from the Knight Riders.
“It’s dream for me to have such a good tournament and I’m living pretty much in a dream right now,” said the right-arm off-spinner while speaking to media reporters after downing the Mumbai Indians.
“All these have been possible for the hard work that I put in and I just hope that I’m able to work harder in the future,” he added further.
The impressive performance against Mumbai Indians also took the offie to the top of the IPL-V wickets chart with a tally of 21 scalps from 12 appearances. The 23-year-old right-arm off-spinner said that getting the
Purple Cap is a great feeling.
“Getting the Purple Cap is obviously a great feeling… To know that I am being able to perform at my best is certainly a great feeling… What can be greater than that?”
Besides being the wrecker-in-chief for KKR, Narine is also the most economical bowler of the tournament so far, with an economy rate of 5.25 an over. Replying to a query regarding the turning tracks in subcontinent,
the West Indian said that he was expecting the playing conditions here to suit him, but not to such an extent.
The Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper,, also lavished praise on the West Indies import for his match-winning performance last night.
“Narine was definitely in great form as he captured four wickets, but our all the others bowlers also did a great job,” said Gambhir on Wednesday night.
