Bundesliga Preview: Bayern Munich vs. VfL Wolfsburg
The Bavarian giants will host Felix Magath’s this Saturday at the Allianz Arena in a bid to redeem themselves after the shock loss at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach last week. The former German champions lost 3-1
at Borussia Park and were deprived of the three-point lead at the top as Borussia Dortmund and Schalke won their respective matches.
The Munich based side won in the reverse fixture when the two sides met at the Volkswagen Arena in August courtesy a late goal from
Bayern Munich
The home side started the second-half of the campaign with a loss against Monchengladbach in an away game. Jupp Heynckes’ side, widely being regarded as the favourites to win this year’s Bundesliga, cannot afford any more hiccups
as Dortmund and Schalke are right on their tail.
Bayern sit at the top of the standings table with 37 points and lead only because of a superior goal difference. A win in Saturday’s clash would surely ensure their place at the top at least for another week, unless the Borussians
get a huge win over Hoffenheim in their respective fixture.
VfL Wolfsburg
Felix Magath’s side returned to winning ways this weekend with all three points against FC Koln. The manager had a busy winter transfer window as they added a host of new players to the squad. The transfer activity paid off as
the side was able to win only it’s seventh win of the current campaign.

The hosts will welcome the return of French international Franck Ribery to the starting line-up after the player recovered from injury. The winger will most likely replace
and Thomas Muller are expected to retain their places in the team.
Jerome Boateng is expected to start in the heart of defence after recent criticism from Franz Beckenbauer for his role as a full-back.
Striker Mario Mandzukic is expected to make a return to the squad after his recent layoff due to injury. are the favourites to start in the centre of defence.
Players to watch
Mario Gomez
The former attacker is once again leading the goal scoring charts in the Bundesliga with 16 strikes so far in the current campaign. The striker has proved yet again that he is a vital part of the squad with his displays
especially at home.
Hasan Salihamidzic
The Bosnian will make a return to his former club this weekend and is vying for a place in the starting line-up. The midfielder spent nine years with Bayern Munich and was a crowd favourite. The player won six Bundesliga titles
and four German Cups during his stay at Allianz Arena and will be at the ground for the first time since he left for Juventus in 2007.
Jupp Heynckes’ side is the clear favourite to win the clash as they have great quality in the squad. A return for Franck Ribery would only further help their cause. There have been very few instances in the current campaign when
the Munich giants have struggled at home.
Felix Magath’s Wolfsburg comprises of a relatively new squad after heavy transfer activity in the winter. So it would be difficult for the new players to come in and perform at against the best team in The Bavarians will
win with a 3-1 score line.
