Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos declares to be Madridista for life, an icon of Real Madrid defence has reiterated his desire to spend the rest of his career at Santiago Bernabeu alongside Los Blancos. Earlier rumours suggested Ramos might be on the move to another club after serving the Spanish footballing
giants with 5 years of top class service.
Some pundits had predicted an entrance into the English Premier League for the Spanish International, but the defender was unconvinced. Interest had been shown by Manchester United and Chelsea earlier in the season. Manchester City too had been willing to
sign in the prodigal defender but Los Merengues were unwilling to part form their former Sevilla player.
In spite of being just 24 years old, Ramos is one of the longest serving players in the Real Madrid ranks. Ramos is just behind the home bred skipper and goalkeeper of Real Madrid, Iker Casillas in terms of serving the longest at Real. This has also helped
Ramos achieve the honours of being vice captain of Los Merengues.
News from Spain itself had labelled Ramos unhappy with the environment at the Bernabeu. Reports had suggested the full-back had engaged in quandaries with his teammates and management. This was causing trouble in day to day routine matters at the club.
Such rumours had become rife in recent times. Other clubs had been attracted to take advantage of this situation like flies to spilled honey. was the first club to approach Ramos, offering him an attractive contract with a humongous transfer fee.
Ramos stunned nearly all football analysts by showing desire to shake hands with Real and sign a permanent deal that would keep him loyal to Madridista for life.
In a recent press release Ramos stated on the issue, “You can never say what's going to happen in football, although I am happy here. I'm very grateful to Sevilla and Madrid for having moulded me as a player and a person. And what more can I ask for than
to be with the best club in the world, in a fantastic city and with my family close by? I love it here and if they offer to renew my contract for life, I'd jump at the chance.”
Ramos went on to admire Real and considered himself lucky and blessed to play under legends at the club. Though Ramos has been part of an under achieving Real Madrid side, he has also been part of one of the most talented squads in the history of football.
Ramos went on to say, “I know I need to earn a few more stripes and I'm more than happy to accept that challenge. I've been here for seven years and I've absorbed the values of this great club by playing alongside legends like Zinedine Zidane and Now
I'm sharing the captaincy with and I have to set an example and help the newer players, who don't know the club so well.”
The 24-year-old has achieved a lot fame in spite of his young age. The player has capped 235 times for Madrid and scored on 27 instances. He has also been a vital part of’s International team having featured in 73 fixtures, and more importantly, was
a part of the winning squad in Euro 2008 and FIFA 2010 World Cup.
