The Sporting Director was discussing the Giallorossi’s woes of not being in the best run of form of late, with a big defeat to Atalanta followed by a loss in the derby.
AS Roma’s woes do not seem to be subsiding, as injuries and suspensions have coupled with miserable set of results for the capital side.
Their despair saw them lose in Derby della Capitale recently, and to top it off, the Giallorossi lost two of their important players in the game. Juan took a blow to the knee and is ruled out for the season.
On the other hand, will be suspended due to the red-card he received during the match.
Apart from these two players, Luis Enrique is also without the services of Nicolas Burdisso, Roma Sporting Director, Walter Sabatini, believes that wounded
Roma will travel to Palermo in their next game.
“In Palermo will arrive a Roma that is suffering, both in terms of results and their situation. The club will honour the game and play it to the best of our ability. It is, though, a time of great difficulty
for us, having experienced two burning knockouts.”
In his interview with Radio Trm, the director was quizzed on how things would have unfolded had Luis Enrique been part of Maurizio Zamparini’s Palermo. The 56-year-old believes that Roma and Palermo are two
different sides with separate ideologies and different vision. He further went on to state:
“With Zamparini ... it is very difficult to defend a Coach with him - he cannot stand suffering defeats without attributing blame and therefore often argues on the basis of emotion.”
There has been increasing speculation that Roma defender, Simon Kjaer, will not be staying at the Rome based club, and his loan move will not be made permanent. The director leapt on to the defence of the
centre-back and stated:
“To err in a few games for becomes a final sentence. He has only gone wrong with a few plays.”
Luis Enrique will be hoping that his side recovers from their recent dip in form, and make a late run for the last Champions League spot.
