The injury to Indian Pacer, has opened the door for another left-armer to make his comeback in the team. However, having not been a part of the setup for quite a while, the 25-year-old is hopeful of making a sucessful return to the Test match
Talking to the media, Singh revealed that he was optimistic about the recall after jos fellow seamer was injured at Lord’s.
"Ever since Zaheer bhai walked out of the Lord's Test holding his hamstring, I was optimistic about my chances of making it to the Indian team," he said.
It will though be a tough task for the player, who last played in a competitive five-day game against in 2008. The Ahmedabad Test was a unsatisfactory outing for the medium-pacer, who remained wicket less in the 21 overs he bowled.
However, in a recent interview, he talked about how he has matured since being left out of the team, and while he knows that bowling at pace is not his main repertoire, he can cause batsman trouble with the line, length and the variations he has in his armory.
He also vowed to return the faith of the selectors and is looking forward for the challenge, when given the opportunity.
Excited about the selection, he said, "I know I have been away from international cricket for some time now, but I have been maintaining my fitness and bowling a lot in the nets. I can vouch, I am match fit and will not disappoint the selectors.”
Singh’s most notable performances have come in the T20 arena, where he led the Indian side to the World CupT20 triumph in 2007. Moreover, he was last seen playing for the new Indian Premier League franchise, Kochi Tuskers, and holds the distinction for being
the all time leading wicket-taker of the lucrative tournament.
With his side 2-0 down in the 4 match nPower series, he will be hoping to make a swift return, on conditions where he performed well in 2007. However, it will  be tough for the left-armer as the inform English side will be looking to wrap up the series and
the no 1 Test spot.
