Upbeat Breidis Prescott claims Amir Khan is scared of a rematch – Boxing news

The 28-year-old Colombian boxer Breidis Prescott has accused the World Boxing Association’s junior welterweight champion Amir Khan of running scared.
Prescott is the only man who has defeated Amir ‘King Khan’ Khan as of yet. He defeated Khan back in September 2008 after giving several in-round knockouts. However, since then the 24-year-old Khan has never been defeated. Moreover, he has claimed the 140lbs
world title.
The Colombian pugilist, who is also has a reputation as a devastating puncher, reckons if Khan is a true champion he should arrange an avenge match with him.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I don’t get this guy. He’s supposed to be a champion. Okay act like it. I shouldn’t be calling you out. You should be banging down my door for this fight.”
Prescott was also annoyed by the interviews Khan gives on the television. He remarked, “Every time they tell Amir Khan’s story on television they always cut to me knocking him out and yet my phone never rings. Why is that, Amir? You’re supposedly a totally
different fighter now, but apparently you’re still as scared as ever of me.”
Since September 2008, Prescott, who is desperate to show people that his last win was not because of his luck, has been outclassed by Britain’s Kevin Mitchell and Mexican Miguel Vazquez. Though Prescott is now a winner of his last three bouts, it seems a
bit too late, as Khan has many more options.
However, there can be a possibility for the bout, as Khan is still in negotiations with Timothy Bradley on their proposed July 23, 2011 bout in Las Vegas. Khan was previously criticised by Paul McCloskey, his last opponent, on the financial issues and he
is again facing the same problems with Bradley.
If things go wrong, Khan would be only left with three options for his next defence, Robert Guerrero, Marcos Maidana or Prescott. Meanwhile Prescott can only hope for the things to go in his favour.
