Marcos Maidana: I think I deserve a rematch and Amir Khan knows it – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Association’s interim Super Lightweight champion, Marcos ‘El Chino’ Maidana, has claimed the currently unified International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association World Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, does not have
the courage to face him again.
The 28-year-old Argentinean pugilist, Maidana, who has won 30 of his 32 professional fights, with 27 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, lost his title to Khan back in December 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Though it was an enthralling battle in which Khan secured a unanimous decision, the Brit took some terrible beating in the late rounds. Therefore, Maidana reckons Khan is ducking him and is making a fool out of his fans.
Maidana, who is widely known as one of the most powerful punchers in the division, not too long ago also accused the Bolton’s finest, who is widely known as King Khan, of begging the WBA for avoiding a rematch.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I don't believe this big mouth (Khan) has the [courage] to fight me again. He keeps fooling his own fans by making excuses all the time.”
“I think I deserve it, and he knows it,” Maidana said of a rematch. “But instead he petitions the WBA from preventing the fight by saying that he has biggest challenges ahead.”
Richard Schaefer, the chief executive officer of Golden Boy Promotions, in the meanwhile commented on his fighter. Schaefer believes Maidana is a brave heart and will fight anyone. Thus, he can easily arrange him a good fight.
“The good news is that we know that Marcos Maidana is willing to fight anyone,” he said.
In the end, Maidana shared his thoughts on his match with the Ghost, Robert Guerrero, which recently got cancelled due to Guerrero suffering from a shoulder injury.
“It was terribly disappointing, especially when you hear the news only 8 days before the fight,” Maidana remarked.
Let’s see if Maidana gets another chance to face Amir Khan in the ring as it will certainly be another explosive fight.
