Unex Picasso pitching for victory at Sandown – Handicap Hurdle Preview
February Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle is going to be held at Sandown horseracing track on Friday, February 24. The Class 4 contest of 2m110y will start at 1:50 (GMT). The total prize money for the event is £2,599.
The fifteen entries for the ace race include Marchand D ‘Argent, Bold Identity, Egypt Mill Spirit, Specialagent Alfie, General Ting, Malanos, Lucy’s Legend, My Mate Vinnie, Unex Picasso, Memorabilia, Rasam Aldaar, Kadouchski, Ophelia’s Kiss, Farbreaga and
Mahfal.
Out of these runners, Unex Picasso, Memorabilia and Ophelia’s Kiss have higher chances to settle on the top three positions respectively.
Here, we present a short career snapshot of each of the trio in order to justify why they stand as favourites.
Unex Picasso
After winning a big race on November 19, 2011 at Huntingdon track, Ian Williams’ black gelding bagged his second straight victory at Southwell ground on January 10, 2012. These two consecutive successes have perked up his morale greatly.
In his last outing again at Southwell on February 7, the four-year-old fought well and finished 3rd. As a whole, he has run for 10 times so far.
In today’s contest, the young runner is likely to demonstrate a big run and achieve his third triumph, having 80 percent chances to finish first.
Memorabilia
John Ferguson’s talented gelding has won 4 out of his total 16 races so far. Following his marvellous victory at Ludlow on January 5, 2012, he finished 4th in a contest at Market Rasen.
The Bloomfields-trained runner possesses plenty of talent. He is likely to perform well again today and grab at least 2nd position. Prior to this, he has run at Sandown just for once.
Ophelia’s Kiss
Trained by Brendan Powell, the black mare bagged her maiden victory by a big margin on January 25, 2012 after a series of 9 failures. This success might have boosted up her morale greatly. The five-year-old runner finished 3rd in her last race
on February 12.
In her very first outing at Sandown today, the mare is expected to show reasonable fighting spirit and notch up third top spot.
Conclusion
Along with the above trio, some of the other runners too possess enough form and firepower at their helm. Thus, the Handicap Hurdle will be a rip-roaring clash. The race is likely to be packed with thrill. Good luck to all the runners.
