Chen Ruolin and Wang Hao acquire Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform gold – 18th FINA Diving World Cup
Chen Ruolin and Wang Hao of China served notice of their talent by acquiring gold medal of Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform on third day of the continued 18th Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) Visa Diving World Cup 2012 at
the Aquatics Centre, Olympic Park in London on Wednesday, February 22.
Both 19-year-old divers displayed their splendid efforts and outperformed their opponents in a comfortable manner. The Chinese pair was inevitably strong for the title of the event as Ruolin is the double Olympic gold medallist while Hao is the world champion.
Ruolin gathered gold medals of the 10m Platform and Synchronised 10m platform at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. With her exceptional skills, she defended her both titles at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai.
On the other hand, Hao accomplished gold medal of the 10m Synchronised Platform discipline along with a silver medal in the 10m Platform at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. Recently, she clinched gold medal in the Synchronised Platform event at the 2011 world
titles.
The Chinese duo qualified into the playoff as hot favourite for gold medal. With their unbelievable performance, they advanced their score in the final round and achieved 359.58 points for gold medal.
They faced no trouble from their strongest competitors, Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion of Canada, and seized the top spot of the event. They enjoyed an advantage of 27.93 points over Canadian pair, which scored 331.65 points for silver medal.
The second position holders confronted strong battle from Great Britain’s Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch but managed to escape them on the podium. The British pair stayed 17.25 points away from the Canadian duo and settled on the victory stand for bronze medal
with an effort of 314.40 points.
Australia’s Alexandra Croak and Melissa Wu were almost three points away from occupying third best spot of the event and ended fourth with a score of 311.04 points.
Furthermore, the audience appreciated remarkable struggles of all finalists in the 10m event while the position holders were awarded accolades for their undisputed efforts at the medal ceremony of the championship.
