Arsenal find themselves in a tough situation as their striker has iterated that he is not interested in signing a new contract at the club or even an extension to his present one. Van Persie’s refusal to commit to the club now
means that there are several top outfits competing for his signature and the Dutchman can leave the club for free in the next league season if do not sell him in the current transfer window.
Sir Alex Ferguson had been quiet about United’s interest in the Dutch striker before Arsenal made the Red Devils’ bid public. Van Persie will indeed add to Manchester United’s squad strength as he can partner Rooney up front but
Sir Alex Ferguson’s first approach for the Dutchman has been rejected already by the Gunners.

his mind and sign a new contract at the club.
