Im not trying to start anything, but i've always wondered..

What happenens if you get raped... you cant exactly say,

"Excuse me, but could you wear a condom? I don't want to get pregnent."

and you do get pregnent, what would happen? Because dont rapes happen every 2 mins or somthing?

I don't know.. but i've always been curious of that. Im not really For or Against them, but i do think that it should be a womens right to get one of they choose.

What are you veiws on that situation?

  1. well everyone has different point of views for every situation, but there are other options....morning after pill, adoption, etc. You should research all of your options before making a life ending decision.

  2. From moral point of view, I would say she should be able to get an abortion, as it's not about her taking responsibility for her actions.

However, from Christian point of view, the baby is an innocent human being who doesn't deserve to be punished for the terrible sins of her/his father. So ideally, the mother would keep the baby.

Would I blame someone for having an abortion following pregnancy from rape? No!! I cannot begin to imagine the emotional turmoil it would bring to the woman's life!

Fortunately, pregnancy resulting from rape is extremely rare, maybe thanks to the morning after pill. As well, I can see the immense amount of stress caused by the situation bringing on spontaneous abortion.

  3. I don't agree with abortions but if a woman was raped and found out she was pregnant then i think an abortion is the best option and 100% acceptable. Even though people don't agree with abortion accidents do happen and it is always the womans choice.

  4. I'm against it, but when it comes out of rape or molestation then I'm not.  Those are the only reasons I think someone should have that right.

  5. Well, I would hope that the woman would get herself the morning after pill.

But if she doesn't, and she does get pregnant, it's still an innocent life and doesn't deserve to be killed.

What's the difference between a baby made by a 15 year old careless couple, and a baby made by a rape?  Nothing, it's still a baby.  Why is it ok if one baby lives and the other doesn't?

  6. I am not anti Abortion...but I surely don't agree with them in ANY situation. Adoption is always the best route in my Eyes...A baby should not have to suffer, regardless. Women should have the right to choose though...it their body and their own regrets...If its rape...I could see how someone could want one very badly...even me, that would be on my mind also if rape was involved...but in the end, i doubt i could do it, not as long as adoption is around.

  7. I am against them.

But in a situation like rape, or if the pregnancy could harm/kill the mother, then abortion is something to be considered.

  8. i think it should be a womans choice, especially in circumstances like that but there has to be a point at which someone stands up for the foetus. was watching the polotics show last night and apparently in some cases the abortion does not work and the baby survives. sometimes only for a few minutes when it fights desperately for its life sometimes for many years with severe deformaties as a result.

abortion is fine but i think the baby should be killed before it is removed from the mothers body.

  9. It happened to my friend, and she got an abortion.  I don't look down on her at all, but I do see, since it has been 10 years later, that the abortion had a worse effect on her than the rape did.  I do believe you can make your own choices, but I wish that women would sit and think about their decision before making it.  Every woman I know that has had one, has regretted it, one is in counceling because she cannot have children because of the result of the abortion.  I think because it is so easy to get one that a lot of people are just irresponsible and know that there is an easy way out if they were to get pregnant.  I am not for or against it.

  10. It's always a bad situation when woman gets raped, and there is no way to make it good.

But why execute the child for the sin of the father?  Why burden that woman with the guilt of killing her child?  Why ADD that to the horror of the rape?

There are many thousands of couples just waiting to adopt babies in this country!  That child could have a loving home!

  11. I'm all in favor of capital punishment in rape cases, but I think it is the rapist, not the baby, that should get the death penalty.  No matter the circumstances of its conception, once a life is created, I don't think that anyone has the right to kill it.

I'm not insensitive to the trauma of rape.  I've known rape victims in both my personal and professional life (I'm a school mental health therapist), and my heart truly breaks when I hear their stories, and I know how long the healing process can be, and that some women never get over it.  Despite all of that, I still feel that if she is not willing to raise the child and have the daily reminder of the rape for the rest of her life, then letting someone else love and raise the child through adoption is another option.

The baby didn't do anything wrong, and I don't think that the baby should be the one punished.

  12. Rape would be the only way I would find abortion acceptable.

  13. I think that in cases of rape and the woman being very young, or she will die if she carries on with the pregnancy, or she is going insane because she doesn't want the baby at all....means she should have an abortion without judgment.

Abortion as birth control, not good.

Many people judge people who have abortions, yet when it was illegal to have one, they typically went to back street abortion clinics, and  infanticide was a big problem!

PS: Abortion should be before the foetus brain is not able to comprehend concious thought...

  14. I feel that abortion is a choice.  I am not against it nor for it as it is an individual choice and goes by each womens own decision that they feel is best for them.  I do feel however that their are other options to consider 1st like adoption and I believe that this should be considered in these so called "oops, did not use protection and now I am pregnant but don't want a baby" situations.

When it comes to rape there is always the morning after pill (also known as Plan B) or putting the baby up for adoption.

I don't feel that it is right for someone else to tell a women that she is sick or wrong for doing what she feels is right for her as she is the one that lives with the decisions she makes.  If she decides that abortion is her only option and that it is best for her then that is her decision and hers only to make and live with.  If she decides that she will keep that baby then she is the one that will raise it and have to provide.

For anyone that tells another person that they should not have an abortion and should care for the baby they must also think of that child that is being carried.  what if the mother does not want a baby and has it anyways, what is she abuses that child or does not provide, what if she could care less about her own baby.  Do these people that are agaisnt it not think that dealth before birth might be better then bringing a child into the world that may feel not loved or cared for and who knows maybe become a serial killer for all we know. I am not saying that it is right or wrong to stop a pregnancy but I am saying that It is not right for another to tell someone what is right for them and their situation.

Please understand that I am not for or against and I do not want to cause arguement for my opinion as it is just an opinion and something to consider and think about.

  15. Abortion is wrong either way but I have to say with rape I wouldn't say I am 100% against it. I understand it wasn't her choice and it was a horrible experience and it's not her fault. It's easy to say to do adoption but we all know pregnancy is a hard thing and it would be horrible for a raped woman to have to carry her rapist's child.

  16. You are right, it's a womans choice.

  17. Actually, pregnancy by rape is very rare. But, even when it does happen, the baby is an innocent bystander.

There is no evidence that aborting the baby conceived in a rape, helps the woman heal. In fact, there has been some evidence that having the baby helps, because it is a good thing that comes out of something horrible.

Yes, a baby conceived in a rape is the child of a violent criminal, but the baby is also the child of the victim. The baby is not at fault and should not be sentenced to death for his/her father's crime. It is an assumption that killing the baby is a good thing, society assumes and even tells the woman that certainly she'd want to get rid of "it."

I've read a few stories in which the rape victim kept the child. Some were given up for adoption, some kept, loved and raised by their mothers. I read one that really touched me. It was written by a man whose wife had been raped. They had been married just a few weeks and she was attacked and raped by a stranger. She turned out to be pregnant by the rapist. She and her husband decided to keep the child. This man said he couldn't imagine life without this boy. The child was 18 at the time the story was written, and he loved him as his own.

I was touched by this story. They gave this child life. They didn't punish him for the crime of his biological father. They loved him and raised him, and his life brought them joy.

All life is prescious. A life cannot be valued based on the circumstances of conception. Those who were born of one night stands, rape, or other "unloving" sistuations are no less human beings.

To abort the child conceived in rape places a value and a punishment on that life that is unfair. A child born of rape can bring joy to his/her mother or to an adoptive couple who desperately wants a child. This can help a rape victim heal because she can focus on something good the came of her horrific experience.
