Ortensia likely to turn tables in King’s Stand Stakes
Ortensia poses to be the strongest contender for the glorious title of the King’s Stand Stakes (British Champions Series & Global Sprint Challenge) (Group 1) race that will take place at Ascot racecourse on Tuesday, June 19. The mega event is scheduled to begin at 3:05 (GMT).
The Paul Messara-trained bay mare is well-set to face 22 rivals in the race including some big names like Sole Power and Little Bridge. The contest will go down on good to soft track of 5 furlongs. The winner will walk away with the bulky cheque worth £198,485.
Ortensia is eyeing to add fourth straight success to her portfolio. The maverick mare marvellously finished first in each of her last three starts from November 3, 2011 to May 31, 2012.
This epic hat-trick has hiked the 30-race veteran runner’s confidence level to an unprecedented extent. She is awash with winning momentum at the moment.
Moreover, the brilliant daughter of Testa Rossa out of Aerate’s Pick owns a terrific track record, having 11 classic conquests to her name.
Thus, Ortensia has more than 90 percent chances to finish first in the Stand Stakes, but she will have to face plenty of resistance from Sole Power who holds reasonable odds in the betting market.
The Edward Lynam-trained bay gelding has been in good form, though not won, since the dawn of 2012. From March 10 to May 26, the experienced horse elegantly grabbed three runner-up ranks in a row, gaining immense fighting spirit.
As a whole, the son of Kyllachy out of Demerger has won 4 of his total 24 starts so far. In the coming contest, he will surely give tough time to Ortensia and there is likely to be a fierce battle between the duo.
Little Bridge is too likely to fight hard today. The C. S. Shum-trained bay gelding is on a hat-trick as he nicely bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs during April 2012. Overall, he has won 9 of his total 19 starts.
In this situation, it is expected that there will be a neck-to-neck clash in the race. Let us see who carries the day. Good luck to all the runners.
