Nigeria goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Enyeama-c36182 to join Lille in the 2011-12 season – Ligue 1 news
It has been confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigeria-c2970 international Vincent Enyeama will join current Ligue 1 league leaders Lille after the end of the current 2010-11 season.
Lille had been in the market for a new goalkeeper for a long time and in order to ensure a bright future for the club, they have reportedly snatched the 28-year-old who is currently playing in the Israeli League with Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Lille wanted the news to be a secret until the end of the current season but on Thursday, the information was leaked in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Israel-c2925 media and now it has been confirmed that the Nigerian will definitely be joining the title contenders in June 2011.
Current first-choice goalkeeper, Mickael Landreau recently renewed his contract with the club. The contract would keep him with the side until 2014 but he would face a tough battle when both Landreau and the Nigeria international will be fighting for the
right to be the first choice between the sticks.
The Frenchman has been an excellent shot-stopper since the start of the season for Lille but it seems that the 31-year-old may have to make way for Enyeama after sometime.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Enyeama’s contract at Lille will keep him at the club for three years. The 28-year-old spent 4 years with Hapoel Tel Aviv with whom he played against French giants Olympique de Lyonnais in the Champions League in the
current season.
He was a revelation for Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 repeatedly during a group game against the South American giants.
It has also been suggested that Premier League sides Manchester United, Birmingham City and Portuguese giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 were also interested in the Nigerian’s services.
However, he chose to play for a team where he would be an integral part and would have a chance to play in the Champions League next season.
