Lille OSC’s Moussa Sow wants to win the Golden Boot this season – Ligue 1 news, has expressed his desire to win the Golden Boot this season, beating off Kevin Gameiro’s desire. Sow has 22 goals this season from 37 appearances, while FC Lorient’s Gameiro has one less goal than his Senegalese counterpart.
He was talking ahead of his team’s last game of the season against his former club, Rennes. The match would take place on Sunday, May 29, at Stadium Lille Metropole.
The striker was pleased to have completed a double of Ligue 1 and the French Cup this season. He hailed the entire outfit for putting up a superb display this term and also thanked the officials for providing the team with complete facilities, which
was extremely encouraging from the players’ point of view.
The Senegalese International also commented on his team’s upcoming last game against Rennes, saying that it would have been better had there be another team then his former club. He insisted that he would try to score against them in search for the
Golden Boot but might not celebrate if he scores. He also referred back to his team’s first game of the season that too was against Rennes where the striker opened his account as a Lille player.
He expected tough competition on the last day as Gameiro would also try his level best to score not only once but ideally twice or thrice in order to get level or possibly ahead of the 25-year-old. Sow also reserved praise for his manager, Rudi Garcia,
saying that the manager has done an outstanding with the whole team and he was ever present whenever they needed him. He also quoted that Garcia is one of those very few coaches who take suggestions from every player and do everything with consultation
and according to every one’s liking.
Sow concluded the talks by saying that the Mastiffs would ideally want a win out of their last game in order to carry the momentum into the next season. He hoped to pounce upon any opportunity that comes his way during the game and urged the players
to stick with their jobs at the club in order to repeat this year’s feat during the 2011/12 season.
