Mohammad Yousuf is my favourite batsman, says Asad Shafiq – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s young middle-order batsman, Asad Shafiq, has revealed that discarded legendary batsman from Pakistan, Mohammad Yousuf, is his favourite player and said that he has always tried to emulate the achievements of the right-handed batsman.
Shafiq made his debut for Pakistan in 2010 and since then he has been a permanent member of the national team. However, he has at times struggled to find a place in the playing eleven.
The right-handed batsman from Karachi played an important role in Pakistan’s success in the Abu Dhabi Test against as he scored a valiant half century in the first innings and his contribution in the second innings was crucial.
On the other side of the coin, Yousuf has been out of favour since the last fourteen months and there are massive doubts whether he will make a comeback to international cricket.
While speaking to Pakpassion, Shafiq said that he watches the videos of to learn a few things about batting.
Shafiq said, "Mohammed Yousuf is my ideal batsman. I used to watch his videos when I wasn't in the [national] team. He became my favourite when he scored most number of runs in a calender year. So I try to learn as much as I can from his batting." There are other budding youngsters coming through junior
ranks as well. for breaking the back of the English
batting line-up.  
"You cannot compare the pitches of Dubai and Abu Dhabi - both are different in nature. But both the wickets weren't too tough for batting. Whoever hung in there, went on to score. Our bowlers bowled exceptionally well. All credit goes to Saeed
[bhai and Rehman bhai for their role in our victory," Shafiq added.
