Mark Cavendish to test his sprinting legs at the Milan-San Remo 2012
Reigning World Champion, Mark Cavendish is eyeing next week’s Milan-San Remo. He will receive immense support from the strong Team Sky line-up.
The seven riders to represent the British team at the event comprise of the same squad currently riding at the Tirreno-Adriatico.
Mark is enjoying a terrific form and his victory at the second stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico sends out a clear message to his rivals.
Cavendish bagged his first win of the 2012 season at the Tour of Qatar after claiming the third stage of the race. He continued his splendid run of form and also grabbed the stage five of the race.
The cyclist crashed during the final day in Qatar but managed to claim the sixth overall spot after the final general classifications.
The 26-year-old also claimed the overall victory at the Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne to mark a perfect start for his 2012 season.
Mark started his professional persuit with Team Sparkasse in 2005 and represented the team for a period of two years.
He penned a deal with Team T-Mobile in 2006 and rode with the side for a period of six years.
Cavendish penned a deal with the British side Team Sky for the year 2012 and has already helped the team with a number of victories in the young season.
He is considered as one of the best sprinters in the cycling world and he proved his true potential during the UCI Road World Championships 2011.
“I'm an old-school sprinter. I can't climb a mountain but if I am in front with 200 metres to go then there's nobody who can beat me,” he briefed during the Eneco Tour 2007.
He is all set to lead Team Sky at the Milan-San Remo, scheduled on March 17, 2012, and is optimistic to repeat his last year’s performance at the race.
Edvald Boasson Hagen, Mark Cavendish, Bernhard Eisel, Mathew Hayman, Jeremy Hunt, Christian Knees, Thomas Löfkvist and Ian Stannard will represent Team Sky at the Milan-San Remo2012.
Team Sky had an ideal start to its 2012 season and has claimed a number of stage victories at the Tour Down Under, the Tour of Qatar and the Volta Ao Algarve.
