Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish backs Andy Carroll to shine at the club
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish believes new signing Andy Carroll has what it takes to make an immense impact at Anfield.
The England international was signed by Liverpool in the January 2011 transfer window for a record-breaking 35 million pounds.
Carroll has not featured for the Reds since his arrival at the club almost one month ago. The striker is yet to recover from an injury he sustained as a Newcastle player, but reports suggest that Carroll will be fit in time for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s
crucial clash against Manchester United on 6 March, 2011.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has not yet seen Carroll in action, but the Scot is already impressed with the way in which the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international is conducting himself.
Dalglish said, “He's a really good lad, he's really down to earth. That is a value that I think is very important nowadays. You say this is an age where the punters can't relate to the people on the street. Well I don't think he is going to have a problem
with that.”
Carroll travelled with the squad for Liverpool’s round of 32 fixture against Sparta Prague recently. Kenny Dalglish had no intention of utilising Carroll’s services for that match, but he took the striker along to help him gel with his new teammates.
Explaining the motive behind taking Andy Carroll along to Prague, Dalglish said, “We brought Andy to get amongst the boys and recognise a couple of faces. But they'll relate to him when he gets back and he starts to get fit and play. But he's here to be
in and amongst the players and continue his rehabilitation.”
Once Andy Carroll is fit to play, he will most probably be paired with fellow new arrival, Luis Suarez at the front. Given time, their partnership might just become the deadliest strike in the Premier League today. Combine that with the craft of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196
and the tenacity of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348, and the Reds find themselves with one of their most formidable line-ups in recent memory.
Andy Carroll looks set to make his debut for his new club when Liverpool host Manchester United for their crucial Premier League encounter in March 2011.
