Hope we can cross one last hurdle, says – Cricket News Update
Kolkata Knight Riders’ wicketkeeper/batsman, Brendon McCullum is ecstatic that his franchise has qualified for the final of the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and hopes that his team will rise to the occasion in the crunch match on May 27,
KKR defeated a strong and company are favourites to lift the title for the first time in five years.
The Knight Riders are a very popular franchise because of their owner, Shah Rukh, who is one of the leading Bollywood actors and is renowned all around the globe. In the previous years, KKR were disappointing, failing to live up to their name and hype.
McCullum knows that his franchise has gone through bad times in the past but this is a great chance for the team to make amends by winning the final. The Kiwi wicketkeeper praised his team’s performance in the current year and hopes that the side will cross
the one last hurdle as well.
"It's been a tough last couple of years, and this year, we have been good so far. There is one big game to go, and hopefully, we turn up on the day and play the best cricket we have played right through the season," said McCullum.
At one stage of the crucial match against the Daredevils, KKR were in trouble, but middle-order batsman, played out of their skins to help their team post a competitive total on the board.
McCullum believes that the strength of KKR in the current season has been the local players who have shared the responsibilities along with the foreign stars.
He believes, "Good thing is that we have got some depth in our batting and Yusuf Pathan and [Laxmi Ratan] Shukla came in at the right time. You would probably say that it was a good result by me getting out. Indian guys have really come on and are playing
some key roles for us.”
