Fighters face suspensions for their brutality and bloodshed at UFC 139 – UFC News
With a blood stained mat and shorts at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 139 event, the bouts were nothing short of brutal. The mixed martial art (MMA) fighters who were part of the event were beaten and bruised as the event
closed. Spectators enjoyed every bit of the event as some of the most historic fights took place.
Dan Henderson, nicknamed Hendo and Mauricio Rua, also known as Shogun, competed in a five-round brawl that took the applause of the spectators in attendance. It was the first time that a non-title fight entered into the fifth round.
In another bout, Wanderlei Silva and Cung Le battled each other but in the last minutes of the second round, Silva unleashed his right and left punches giving him the win but Le came back with a broken nose, a bloodied face and the burden of defeat.
Once the fights came to their end, many of the fighters were shocked, which also came as a surprise for the UFC. The California State Athletic Commission issued a notification on Monday, November 21, 2011 in response to the brutality
that filled in the UFC 139 event. According to the issued document, the fighters were suspended due to their violent behavior or because on medical reason as they need time to undergo recovery. It is a possibility that Dan Henderson may have suffered a broken
thumb. His MRI scan will give more details into his condition.
However, for the time being, Henderson is given suspension without a contract for 180 days for his extremely physical bout. Mauricio Rua, suspended for forty-five days, will face his suspension without a contract. His suspension
would go on for three months. His suspension will end only doctors approve that he does not have any fractures on his skull or on his face. Wanderlei Silva is also on the suspended list for sixty days.
Le who suffered a devastating series of blows by Silva, has been given suspension for two months as he awaits his medical reports to know if he has a nasal fracture or not. Martin Kampmann also came on the list as he faced a suspension
of two months. He can be taken off from the list if doctors approve his condition as he suffered deep cuts on his forehead.  These fighters would have to undergo medical treatment before they can make their way back into the UFC or MMA ring. Until then, they
would be living a peaceful life.
