Dana White: I actually think that Pacquiao has the style to beat Floyd – Boxing News
Dana White, president of UFC, recently said that Filipino WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has the style and capabilities to beat the unbeaten American WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather jr. According to White, Pacquiao will be the one walking
out with victory if both the fighters ever collide.
In his interview, White stated, “I actually think that Pacquiao has the style to beat Floyd. Pacquiao's whole game is counter punching… power counter punching… and I think [Floyd] will end up quick. We just sit here and argue about the fight all day long...
there's just one way to find out and that's for them to fight and that fight needs to happen and needs to happen soon.”
As of now, Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to face unbeaten fighter Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, whereas Floyd Mayweather is set to fight Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The much anticipated super-bout
of Pacquiao and Mayweather is now apparently a thing of next year. Both fighters were in touch to get the fight done earlier this year, but they could not come to a conclusion. Floyd Mayweather was the first one to part his way and signed a fight with Miguel
Cotto. Since Mayweather had already closed all doors of negotiations, Pacquiao decided to move on and fight Timothy Bradley.
According to Dana White, Manny Pacquiao is a quick learner and has quite a lot of techniques to go by, whereas Floyd Mayweather is too dependent on his strength and speed. White believes that if the super-bout happens, Pacquiao will use several tactics to
beat Mayweather since both the fighters are of the same calibre when it comes to speed and resilience.
For now, there is no news of the super-bout happening anytime soon. However, Pacquiao’s fight against Bradley will play an important role in determining if he will get the chance to fight Mayweather or not. If Pacquiao loses to Bradley, chances are he will
not fight Mayweather then. Therefore, Pacquiao will have to give his best and make sure to beat Tim Bradley to get his hands on Mayweather.
