Brandon Knight fancies a Detroit Pistons win over Milwaukee Bucks - NBA Recap
Last time Detroit Pistons met the Milwaukee Bucks this season, it was an absolute carnage as Bucks battered the Pistons 103-82. On Friday night, both teams were in the same court again and this time Pistons avenged their previous loss by subduing Bucks 88-80.
More importantly, with the win, the Pistons also ended their dismal 7 games losing streak.
Rookie Guard Brandon Knight, who had a terrible time in Pistons humiliating loss against Bucks earlier, was outstanding tonight and led them with a season high 26 points on 3 for 8 from the long range and 7 assists.
"I just remember not coming with a lot of energy, not lifting my teammates up," Knight said. "Me, as a rookie, that's something I've got to be able to do each and every game, no matter who we're playing against."
Greg Monroe had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Tayshaun Prince pounded 13 points and grabbed 9 boards.
Detroit’s coach Lawrence Frank seemed satisfied with the overall performance of his team, especially with his young guard,
"I thought Brandon really responded, Frank said. "When you hold a team to 80 points defensively, everyone who is on the floor contributes to that, and that deserves more credit than anything else."
Point guard Brandon Jennings led the Bucks with 20 points on 7 for 19 from the floor. He too was impressed with his counterpart’s show tonight.
"He was great tonight," Jennings said. "He was aggressive on offense and he was going for steals on defense. He's a good young player."
Shaun Livingston netted 14 points on 4 for 6 from the floor while no other player from Bucks managed to produce a decent tally. The Bucks were really outclassed in each and every department, be it shooting from the floor (35.1%-42%), free throw line (75.8%-84.2%), rebounds (41-47) and assists (10-19).
With scores levelled at 35 all midway through the second quarter, Pistons rattled a 16-6 spurt , to end the first half in a commanding position, ahead by 10 points 51-41.
Pistons then carried their momentum into the next frame and kept Bucks under pressure throughout. With 4 minutes remaining in the frame and Detroit ahead by 7 points, 60-53, Detroit changed gears further and pushed the game miles away from the Bucks by reeling a 10-2 spurt that got them ahead by 15 points 70-55.
Bucks showed some urgency in the deciding frame and managed to get as close as 5 points, 69-74, however a 6-0 run by Pistons in the ensuing passage decided the game. The Bucks failed to make a comeback as Pistons used a flurry of free throws down the stretch to complete a convincing win.
