Anzhi Makhachkala’s Samuel Eto’o happy with win against CSKA Moscow - Russian Premier League news
In the latest round of Russian Premier League action, Anzhi Makhachkala won 2-1 against CSKA Moscow at Dinamo stadium, Makhachkala.
Anzhi striker, Samuel Eto’o, has spoken of his delight after claiming the much needed three points against the Moscow-based club, and urged his teammates to stretch the good league run.
In a match where both the teams started with offensive line-ups, the opening goal was not scored until the end of the first half. The home team struck first to take a deserved lead in the second period but the Koni managed to score
an equalizer soon after.
In the dying moments of the match, when it looked like both the teams would settle for a point, the Cameroonian national managed to score the winner from the penalty spot.
Eto’o revealed that it demands nerves of steel to score the winning goal of the match and admitted that his earlier experience has helped him. He said: “My experience allows me to do it more or less peacefully.”
Eto’o has been instrumental for the Russian outfit since his multi-million pound transfer from Milan, as he has scored 8 in eleven appearances for the Dagestani club.
Speaking on the match, the former forward revealed that both the teams played on equal footing until the Armeytsy conceded a late penalty. He was delighted with the win but lamented defensive errors made by the Dagestani
club as well.
“The result achieved in the game is certainly pleasing against a very strong contender. It’s a result of good teamwork. But if we want to improve, we must not too many chances to out opposition in these types of games.” The FIFA
club world cup winner was quoted as saying.
Anzhi Makhachkala have managed to claim 4 points against table-toppers, Zenit St. Petersburg, and second-placed, CSKA Moscow, in last two league meetings. As things stand, Anzhi are at the seventh spot on the league table.
The promising striker went on to reveal his satisfaction on the recent results and tipped his side to claim a top spot in the near future.
