San Francisco Giants' Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy get contract extensions till 2013 -MLB Update
The San Francisco Giants have decided to keep general manager, Brian Sabean, and manager, Bruce Bochy, on the team by awarded them a one-year contract extension and another year option for the club, which will keep them on the Major League Baseball (MLB)
franchise till 2013 and potentially 2014 as well.
The announcements were made by Giants chief executive officer, Larry Baer, on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, during a conference call with reporters.
Keeping in view both of the managers style of working together, Baer, termed the decision as the reason based on them being in sync and keeping them that way.
"Brian and Bruce are certainly two of the finest professionals at their respective positions in all of baseball," said Giants president and incoming CEO Larry Baer in a statement. "They have effectively built and fostered a winning tradition at all levels
of our organization. I have no doubt that they will achieve continued success for the Giants in the coming years and beyond."
Sabean and Bochy could also be seen to be relieved after the news broke out about their extensions and hope to continue working in the betterment of the team in the upcoming seasons.
"I think we have a mutual respect. We listen to each other, Brian for me is always available," Bochy said. "We communicate so much during the course of the season. We stay in the same building.”
Along with planning for the future, Bochy hopes that this is something they will be taking as a motivational step.
Both Sabean and Bochy have regarded the offseason as one which they have high plans for the offseason which according to them has just started. In order to acquire a number of high rated players for the team and improvement of the roster for the next season,
they can now focus more on upgrading the team instead of their own careers.
Sabean, entering his 15th straight season with the Giants, is the longest running GM in history of the MLB and hope to continue working with the same organisation which has served him well and vice versa.
