Daniel Morel to make 1.2 million from AFP and Getty Images. Yes you heard it right, the image sites which charge other users for the photos on their site will pay to use Twitter photos.
Photography agencies AFP and Getty Images will pay $ 1.2 million for using images of the Haiti earthquake 2010 published by a particular photographer on his Twitter account.
A judge already had ruled that agencies do months had violated the rights of the author, Daniel Morel, and has now set the amount of compensation to be met.
AFP had argued that the photos were on Twitter for commercial use, but the judge did not consider this defense, as Twitter's own rules clearly state that users are the owners of the material posted on the network.
I guess i should not be holding back my photos on social networks.
