China: women’s field hockey team earns hat-trick in Asian Games 2010

China won its third consecutive women’s hockey gold medal in Asian Games after thrashing South Korea in a penalty shoot by 5-4 at Guangzhou China on Wednesday. In the beginning this final match was locked in 0-0 tie and remained
goal-less even at the end of 15 minutes of golden gold extra time. This nip and tuck competition remained unpredictable in the start as both teams kept playing with keen consciousness. In the beginning none of these two women’s hockey teams gave any room for
a single goal to the opposing team. Twist prevailed in the match when Kim-Eun-sil missed the first stroke for the Korea, while China converted all of their five strokes and became winner when Sun-Sinan beat goal-keeper moon Young-h*i.
In 70 minutes of regulation time China took hold of the match but South Korea missed its early opportunities when captain Lee-Seon-ok hit the side bar of the 7th minute short corner.
This final women’s field hockey match moved to China in the second half but it missed two successive corners. Chinese Captain Fu Baorong captain had a chance of making score in 54th minute but her powerful strike went
in vain.
Attacker Zhao Yudiaos committed a foul against mid-fielder Kim-Okju and forced china to go on defensive. Every bit of this sensational match amused the crowd. The final match turned into more thrill at the end when South Korea
goalkeeper, Moon Young-h*i tried hard to keep China away from scoring off by three penalty corners. Her eyes were full of tears at the ending moments of match when Sun-Sinan converted the last penalty corner and completed a hat-trick of China women’s field
hockey team in wining three Gold Medals consecutively.
“I really feel unhappy and it’s a pity that we lost the gold medal match,” said Moon Young-h*i. .
China’s coach Kim San-rvol’s had higher expectations from its team and he said:
 “It’s not the best match, indeed, we missed several scoring chances.”.
After the winning the final, Chinese captain Fu Baorong sad:
“I knew the match against (South) Korea will be really tough this time, but I had faith that our team was stronger.”
Chinese player were overjoyed and soon after the medal ceremony, all players of the team lined up and bowed to their team’s support staff for giving them credit of this splendid victory. Some players even adorned officials including
South Korean coach Kim with their gold medals on the victory as a sign of paying respect.
Now, both China and South Korea reserved the two direct berths to the 2012 London Olympics awarded by the International Hockey Federation.
On other hand one of the winners either Malaysia or China of Asian Games men field hockey final will also get a direct berth for the Olympic Games 2012 in London.
