Chelsea finally ready to do some business and sign in players

The season is about to start with Chelsea confounding everyone by not introducing new talented players in their squad after they had parted ways with some of their seasoned players. Their coach Carlo Ancelotti had earlier claimed that even if Chelsea does not sign in players the club had the capability and talent to defend their title and that comment was followed by him even stating they might not introduce any new players in the team at all this year.
However sources have revealed to the contrary; Chelsea of course has money and now they have brought it out. Their priority will be to fill in the gaps left by Michael Ballack, Juliano Belletti and Joe Cole; they earlier refused to renew their contracts. Rumours had nearly become reality when they were about to sign in the Spanish ace Fernando Torres but that matter is now at a standstill, the latest rumours are that the Blues are about to bring on some players from Benfica.
After all the bad news about injuries the Italian manger Ancelotti is facing, he will be quiet happy with the break Chelsea has got in acquiring the prodigal Brazilian midfielder Ramires. They have won the bid with 20 million pounds thwarting their main contenders Manchester City in the process. Ramires has been hot in demand by many clubs especially after the World Cup where he gave a fine performance.
Nick named as the “Blue Kenyan”, Ramires was also being sought by Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona. However the prodigy had already stated that “Blue is the colour”. He stated, “It would be a dream for me to play for a big club such as Barcelona, Real Madrid or Chelsea”.
Ramires grabbed the attention of the world in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He became the man to watch as other Brazilian players struggled with their form and he out classed everyone in the midfield. His combination with Robinho proved extremely deadly and they fully exploited their opponents in the 3-0 thrashing of Chile.
The 23 year old player has 5 goals in 30 appearances for Benfica and has 16 caps in which he has scored 2 goals for his country. Chelsea is also plotting to make a move on Benfica’s star Brazilian defender David Luiz despite having a price tag of 27 million pounds. The 23 year old Luiz used to play on loan for Benfica but was then bought in 2007. For them he has had 66 appearances in which he has scored 4 goals.
Among the other major signings made by Chelsea so far is Yossi Benayoun from Liverpool, who was fetched by them for 5 million pounds. The 30 year old Israeli entered Liverpool from West Ham United and is expected to fill in the space of Joe Cole as he can play as an attacking midfielder and on the wings.
There is another Brazilian marvel that has attracted the Blues and that is the Santos 18 year old striker winger Neymar da Silva. Chelsea has already made a 17 million pound bid on the kid but the club has bluntly refused it saying that he is worth much more. Neymar has played 40 games with Santos and has scored 13 goals.
Santos is eager to sign the contract with Chelsea and play in an English club but the club is demanding 30 million pounds and the price tag seems too high but experts do believe that the young player has high potential and can be worth much more than that. Interest from other teams is what has left Chelsea hanging on to this one.
The defending champions will definitely need all the players they can get as before the start of the season some of their major players have injured themselves and the club is now becoming a bit desperate for finer substitutes after they were humiliated in a 3-1 defeat against Ajax.
