Question:

Your Thoughts on the Future of Earth

Do you honestly think anything will happen that could end the human race in 2012? I've recently hearing also that another Ice Age could happen anytime now. They say it occurs about every 11,500 years. I'm not really concerned about any of this, I just want to know your thoughts.

And one more thing, there was water discovered on Mars sometime ago, do you think there will be more evidence of life on the red planet? And maybe even an exploration to Mars is the coming years, if nothing happens in the next 4-6 years?

  1. The Sun cycles every 11 to 12 years, I quote NASA:

Much of this is still years away. "Intense solar activity won't begin immediately," notes Hathaway. "Solar cycles usually take a few years to build from solar minimum (where we are now) to Solar Max, expected in 2011 or 2012.".

So there will be activity 2011 that may lead into 2012 and everyone will freak out and believe that the Mayans calendar was correct and we would all perish...

    YEAH RIGHT!

  2. the collider century. indusrial transition.in 1607 america built it's first comercial boat,,steam and radiowill you be caught up in pre technology revolution or will you step into a different SUV

  3. I don't believe in the 2012 nonsense. Especially if the Mayas new so d**n much, why did they just disappear?

But as far as Earth is concerned, theres nothing that we can to to Earth that it cannot heal itself from. That being said, Earth being very hospitable for us humans and other life forms as it is......we cannot keep going on with business as usual. Unless we get our **** together eventually Earth may still exist......but as a lifeless desert like Mars, only warmer.

  4. i can't say what will happen, but i believe something will happen.... there's just too many diffrent cultures tying significance to this general decade.... i'm not saying the world is going to end... i think it's just as likely we will make a discovery that is the most significant to human kind on record.... (first contact for an extreme example)

but overall, if things keep going the way they are.... i see escelating wars, riots as our natural resource reserves finally diminsh to near nothingness (scientist have calculated estimated reserves of vital nessicities that we have left, and alot of the projects are very gloom.... alot will run out within the next 100 years OR less.....) increased severe weather and disasters as a result a gradually lessening bio-diversity as our own numbers grow, more greater cancer rates...

and if you look at history on a long term scale there are a couple of natural disasters we're over-due on..... massive ones at that... statisticly speaking, we're over-due on a super volcano (50,000 years or so, last one was 74,000 years) AND a flood basalt (can't remember the numbers, but follows the same pattern as the volcano) minor asteroid impact/air burst (one about every 100 years, last one known was in 1908 tunguska) yellow stone erupts once about erupts about once every 600,000 years, it's been 620,000-630,000 thousands years since it last did.... there are a few others i can't remember off the top of my head.
