Question:

Why would my Sakura Pigma Micron Pen stop working after a few uses?

I've completely fallen in love with Sakura Pigma Micron 005 .20mm pens...however they stop working after only a few days. I KNOW that I'm not using up all the ink in there. I use them for sketching and can fill a few sketchbook pages with each pen, but I still can't believe they stop working so fast and cannot afford to buy a new pen every few days! I wonder, am I doing something wrong? I read somewhere about ruining the tip if you press too hard? Would that cause the ink to stop coming out? Any help is very appreciated, thanks in advance.

  1. Perhaps.  Perhaps it's leaving the tip uncapped?  (I don't know the pen.)  Did you try contacting either Sakura or your local distributor where you bought the pens?  They would be the experts and, if they care about the product, might well send you a coupon for more, after determining what the problem is.

Next day - I emailed them and just heard back.  They suggested using a larger pen tip, as the tips can be quite sensitive.

  2. I think that the humidity maybe affecting it. The ink is drying up. One thing that you could do is to pop the top of it off. Then add a few drops of water to the pen and some people even add some india ink. Replace the top and then just let the liquid absorb into the rest of the pen over night.
