  1. Spray roses are  smaller roses.  They come many on a stem compared to regular roses that come with one long stem. Flower shops get them in especially to do wrist corsages with (I am sure you know the kind that you use for the prom) or small bouquets.

  2. Roses are roses. It's the size of the particular variety and the growth habit that hint at the variety.

    Spray roses are small.

    Floribundas have many flowers.

    Climbers escalate along trellises.

  3. Yes this is true.  An example of this would be "Baby Blanket" which have done very well and have 10-15 buds per stem (generally smaller in size).

Here's a link to Jackson & Perkins website you can enlarge the photos and zoom right in to see what I'm talking about.

This is a blanket variety used generally for groundcover that exhibits that "spray" of roses:

Here's a hybrid tea which generally will have only one or so blooms blooming per stem:

I hope that helps.  I grow all kinds of roses around my house...you pay a bit more for Jackson & Perkins but they are second to none as far as quality.  Their plants have all been VERY healthy and none have been diseased...I would highly recommend them.
