I always mix JD and Captain (which is whiskey) with coke.

Other then that I have only heard of mixing it with water to tone it down some.

howabout a julep?

had some during the kentucky derby:

3 oz. (90 mL) Bourbon whiskey

4 to 6 sprigs mint leaves

granulated sugar, to taste

muddle it, its fairly close to a mojito, just doesn't have the lime.

cola....or grenadine and sweet vermouth (a manhattan)...if it's good whiskey, just serve it on the rocks, or with a drop or 2 of hot water to cut the alcohol and release more of the flavors.....and FYI Megg: captain is spiced rum which is good with coke, but wildly different than whiskey.

Please don't destroy a decent (or even an indecent!) whiskey by mixing it WITH something!

The ONLY thing that should be added to whiskey is either an ice cube or some water....and THAT'S ALL.

Sour mix, will give you a Tom Collins. Alot of folks like coke with it. Most Bourbons are better drank straight, or maybe with some ice.
