Virender Sehwag surprised over his team’s victory against Rajasthan Royals – Cricket News Update
Delhi Daredevils’ captain,, played a massive role in his team’s win.
Sehwag won the toss and elected to bat first at Feroz Shah Kotla. The home team posted a competitive total of 152 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets in its allotted 20 overs. The visitors were in a commanding position throughout the chase but
lost their way in the last couple of overs and were defeated by one run. The Delhi skipper was named as the Player of the Match for his stunning knock of 63 runs.
The fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already witnessed a number of close encounters. However,’s victory over Rajasthan was quite dramatic and unbelievable as the visitors lost only three wickets in their innings but failed to cross
the line in the end.
Even Delhi’s captain is surprised at this victory and revealed that he had given up at one stage of the match. However, everything changed in the last couple of overs. Sehwag is all praise for Morkel and feels that the penultimate over bowled by the lanky
fast bowler changed the course of the match.
Sehwag said, “Not only the spectators, even I thought that we would lose this match. When you need just 15 runs from 12 balls, that too in this format, it is not that difficult. And they (the Royals) had eight wickets in their hand at that stage. So it was
extremely difficult for us to make a comeback. But we managed to do it, thanks to some terrific bowling by Morkel.”
The right-handed opening batsman is happy with his own form and wants to carry on with the momentum. The destructive opener has scored four half-centuries in the previous four matches.
“I’m just loving batting in this format of the game. I’ve been trying to bat till the 15th or 16th over. In the last couple of matches, I have batted well,” he added.
