India chased down the total of 237 with relative ease, thanks to a marvellous piece of batting display from Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. The Delhi born cricketer, Kohli, scaled 112 runs while the latter
contributed 84. Kohli was declared the Man of the Match for his efforts.
The 22-year-old was jubilant after performing in front of his home crowd. Expressing his delight, Kohli said, “Especially satisfying playing at my home ground. I was really keen to perform at my home ground,
really happy with the way I batted. The pitch did a bit early, the English bowlers were getting some bounce early on, but it was coming on to the bat beautifully.”
The Delhi boy has been in magnificent form lately and aims to make the most of it. Kohli termed the surface friendly for batsmen and asserts that it helped his cause, as any shot that he properly timed
went for a boundary.
English skipper,, acknowledged the innings of Kohli and Gambhir. Referring to their innings, Cook said, "We got a lot of 30s and 40s but we know that doesn't win a game. Virat and Gambhir
showed us how it's done. Credit to the way they played."
"We prepared well in the practice games, but we haven't translated that to the main games. We need to score more runs, and our fielding wasn't quite to standard," Cook further added.
England won the toss and decided to bat first; Indian bowlers bowled with great vigour and restricted the Poms to a modest total., right-arm pacer, was the curator of the English debacle. The
pacer grabbed four wickets while conceding 30 runs from nine overs.
A lot of players within the English ranks got starts but failed to convert them into something big. notched 42 runs.
The Men in Blue now lead the series by two games to nil. They will be looking to seal the deal by repeating their performance in the third game which will be played at Cricket Association Stadium,
Mohali, on Thursday, October 20, 2011.
