Sir Alex Ferguson backs Welbeck to perform for the English national team – English Premier League
Sir Alex has come out and backed Welbeck to make it big in the international arena of football for the English national team by stating that the young striker is ready to take part in the English national team squad. Welbeck was
in the English national team squad recently as England took on has been quite protective of his players in the past when it comes to international football and on certain occasions United’s
players have been rested in the international week even by their national team sides.
Welbeck himself has had a terrific start to the Premier League season for Manchester United as he has developed a good understanding with in United’s offensive department. Welbeck scored for the Red Devils in their
3-3 draw with F.C Basel but before that he also netted against
Sir Alex Ferguson in his latest statement to the media said that he thinks Welbeck is ready to play for The veteran tactician said, "He's got a talent as good as anyone in the English game for the forwards and I think
he's almost certain to get his chance now. I don't think there's any doubt about that. He has great belief in himself, the boy. He's a confident lad and intelligent. I think he's ready and I don't think there's any doubt."
He added, " was a kid here and was always an outstanding talent. We had to be patient with his physical part because he grew very tall very quickly and became gangly and weak. He suffered quite a few injuries in his knees
simply because of his growth but, if you see him now, he's a massive boy, a big powerful lad and, physically, he's fine."
Welbeck also started for Manchester United in their latest Premier League match against but failed to get his name on the score sheet as he struggled to make an impact at Anfield. However Sir Alex will be hoping that
the youthful striker returns to goal scoring form when Manchester United take on Manchester City on 23rd of October, 2011.
