Should i get a smart parts ion or a tippmann 98 custom?

i have paintballed for a year and i have an avenger 3 and i want to upgrade to something better. if you have owned one or both of these guns please tell which one you enjoyed most. please and thank you

The ion made me happier. My 98 custom was too loud and heavy, the ion is quiet, light and efficient. both guns are very customizable, but I'd take an ion over a 98 ANYDAY. the only drawback is that the ion requires a bit more "babying" than the 98, but if you love your gun, you'll baby it anyways.

Well i have lots of experience with 98 customs, and they are great guns, REALLY durable, fairly accurate out of the box, and very upgradeable. They may not be as fast as the ion, but there a woodsball gun, besides 17bps is a waist of paint and air.

Well an ion is an amazing speedball gun and is priced very well. It's fast and is over all a good gun for woods and speedball. A tippman 98 doesnt fire nearly as fast but it is probably one of the most durable guns on the market. You could drop it off a balcony and still go out and play a good game. Depending on how you like to play either is a decent gun. My personal opinion is an ion if yuo take good care of it.

Depends what kind of paintball you plan on playing.

Tourny - Go with the Ion

Woodsball - Tippy 98

If you got the Tippmann route, get the 98c with ACT. Prevents ball chopping.

Again, the 98, you can throw out of a moving car, and still play.

Both can be upgraded to no end.

My advice, save up, buy a higher end gun. Not talking bout angel status, but look towards the A5 or Spyder level.
