Saul Alvarez: Josesito Lopez has the unique ability to surprise in the ring – Boxing News
Saul Alvarez, the current WBC light middleweight champion, in a recent media interaction commented that Josesito Lopez, his upcoming opponent, has the unique ability of surprising you, adding that he is preparing the hard for the bout and will enter the
ring 100 percent.
Saul will defend his title for the fifth time in a row against Josesito Lopez in a 12-round bout which will be held on September 15, 2012. The duo will headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Golden Boy Promotions’ renowned match maker Eric Gomez
and CEO Richard Schaefer.
The show will be televised live from MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States and will be broadcasted on Showtime as its weekly Saturday night boxing special. Saul and Lopez recently met at a press conference which was called on to officially announce
the engagement.
Despite the fact that the Placita Olvera situated at Father Sera Park in Los Angeles was filled with Saul fans, Lopez did not lose his cool and shared his excitement about the bout commenting that he will train extremely hard as the clash is a golden opportunity
for him to move up in the rankings.
Saul, on the other hand, put forth his thoughts in detail and commented that he is proud and happy to defend his title on his country’s Independence Day, adding that he will not underestimate Lopez at all and will make his countrymen proud by retaining the
gold.
Alvarez stated, “I am happy with this fight Josesito Lopez earned his shot for September 15. It will be great fight. Inside the ring I won’t be overconfident. I will train my hardest so I can come out victorious. I am proud and happy to be representing Mexico
my county and on September 15 we will be chanting, ‘Viva Mexico!’”
When asked as to what he thinks about Lopez as a brawler, Saul commented, “Josesito is a fighter that can do many things inside the ring one of them is surprise you but we will prepare ourselves to prevent that from happening.”
Saul, also known as ‘Canelo’ or ‘Cinnamon’, has been in a total of 41 bouts, boasting an undefeated streak with 40 wins and just one draw. Alvarez, 22, is also a decent knockout pounder and has collected 29 of his total wins by knocking the opponent out
cold.
Lopez, 27, on the other hand, has been in a total of 35 bouts, boasting 30 wins. The American proud has collected 18 of his wins by knockout. On the paper, Saul has already won the bout but Lopez is well known for being a difficult and unique opponent which
makes the bout interesting altogether.
