Santera with exploding chances for winning the SFS Intec 316 Stainless Steel Handicap Hurdle at Kempton
Kempton will host the Class 3 SFS Intec 316 Stainless Steel Handicap Hurdle over two miles and five furlongs on Tuesday, 17th April. Contesting for the £4,549 purse are twenty four-year and older thoroughbreds.
None of the entries on the line-up has any exceptional record of racing at Kempton and those who have some racing experience there have not been able to credit wins against their names.
Santera, Gold Away’s eight-year-old brown mare out of mare, Sainte Gig, started off her 2012 campaign with two attempts at Kempton which followed three more races at different race courses over a period of nearly two months. She has been active five times
during the new season.
Santera’s seasonal debut was in the £32 Free At 32Red.Com Handicap on 12th January at Kempton over two miles. She finished third behind the winner, Prince Charlemagne, who led the 7/2 favourite runner up of the race, Bold Adventure, by a neck’s
margin.
Santera was paired up with William Carson for the race.
She was entered as the 4/1 joint favourite in the 32Red Casino Handicap on 24th January at Kempton over two miles. She ended a dreadful ninth on the field of thirteen. The winner of the race was Steady Gaze with six lengths under belt. Finishing
the closest to the winner was Valdan while the other 4/1 joint favourite, Bold Adventure, stationed fourth behind the winner.
Santera then ended tenth at Lingfield, was positioned fourth at Sandown and then managed the fifth ranking at Wincanton. Nothing impressive about what she has been up to lately however she is more experienced than the rest as far as racing at Kempton is
concerned.
Santera should bring in use her strength of the exposure to Kempton twice already during the season and improvise the ninth position that she posted when she last raced at Kempton.
An entry to look out for is the seven-year-old, MidnightTuesday who struck his seasonal victory very recently. He won the Betfair Bring You Better Value “Hands And Heels” Novices’ Handicap Hurdle on 23rd March at Newbury. He had Tom Bellamy onboard
and the two led by five lengths.
Fresh out of a win will entice him for bagging more and that can turn out to be challenging for Santera.
