Pakistan World Cup Squad Part-2
Pakistan team for the World Cup has just one regular opener in it, Muhammad Hafeez is the man who has been opening for in all 3 formats and has been doing rather well. The right hander has good footwork and technique but lacks when
it comes to composure. Hafeez does start of well but when he is squeezed for runs he tends to play a rash shot from time to time and throws away his wicket.  Hafeez does bowl decent off spin and can do a good job in middle overs to keep the scoring rate down. Afridi had said that he wants to go back to his opening position.  He did try it
in the two T-20s against New Zealand but things did not go as planned for the skipper. However if Afridi is put up the order in the World Cup on the sub continental pitches it may not be such a bad idea. Also not to forget Shahid Afridi is a very under rated
leg spinner, he has improved considerably in last couple of years or so and does have the ability not only to contain runs but also get wickets.
Ahmed Shahzad is another candidate for the opening spot, that is if he is picked in the playing eleven. The right hander does have talent but is probably not ready for the big stage just yet. In his brief stints in the team he has shown
glimpses of what he can do, but more times than not he gets himself out by playing one shot too many.
Kamran Akmal is another man who can be considered to open the batting. Kamran has done it on consistent basis in last year or so, he was most impressive especially during the last T-20 World Cup. Kamran has made his way back in the team
after some injuries and off field issues, but after finally getting clearance from the board he is ready to go.  Kamran can be effective both up and down the order, he has the ability to use the long handle when he wants. However his ability with the gloves
is still questionable but does offer an all round package when his batting exploits are taken into account.
Abul is Pakistan's extremely talented all rounder. Even though he is not as effective with the ball as he used to be, Razzaq can still do a decent job with the new ball. But with the bat he remains one of the most devastating hitters
in world cricket.  The right hander when on song is impossible to start and can win matches all on his own. However consistency is something that has been missing from his game, now heading towards the tail end of his career he may be looking at his last World
Cup. If he can produce his whirlwind knocks on consistent basis Pakistan can have a good chance of making it to the finals in the World Cup.
