New York Jets QB Tim Tebow can't wait to start training - NFL News
New York Jets made one of the most shocking moves this offseason as they traded fourth and sixth round draft picks to the Denver Broncos to bring in quarterback, Tim Tebow.
Tebow’s arrival started talks of a marketing move and a quarterback controversy ready to burst. The young quarterback though has said all the right things and humbly accepted his stated role of being backup to Mark Sanchez.
With the offseason workouts starting, Tebow cannot wait to get into training and learn the ropes of the offence from coordinator Tony Sparano.
Talking to the New York Post on Saturday, the quarterback said that he is studying an old playbook Sparano gave him at the Senior Bowl and is trying to get a heads up before entering into formal training.
"I keep everything, and I've been going over every page of it. I'm sure a lot of it still applies, even though that was a couple of years ago. I'm also excited to see what (Sparano) has new planned for me."
Both coach, Rex Ryan and general manager, Mike Tannenbaum have said that the quarterback will be used as part of a wild cat offence to give the Jets a Plan B in close games.
Sparano is known for developing the wild cat offence during his stint with the Miami Dolphins and Tebow’s unconventional play is a good fit for the plays.
The quarterback went on to say that he will be ready early and reach the training ground at the crack of dawn to begin his time as a Jets player.
"I'm going to be there early -- as in 'crack-of dawn' early. This is what I've been waiting for since the trade happened, and I want to make a good impression."
Tebow became a starter at the Denver Broncos after replacing Kyle Orton and is credited with turning around a season that looked to be over even before it had started.
The quarterback took the Broncos to the American Football Conference (AFC) West division title and into the playoffs after some amazing last minute comeback performances.
Tebow now has to prove at the Jets he will not be a one season wonder and become a better passer of the ball.
