Mark Webber expected to meet Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz for future talks – Formula 1 news
According to some reports, it has been revealed that Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber is expected to meet the team owner Dietrich Mateschitz in order to talk about his future with the team.
The team principal Christian Horner has already revealed that RBR will keep Mark Webber for the 2012 Formula 1 season but they are yet to sign a formal deal with him.
Webber on the other hand has also stated that he is willing to stay with the team which pretty much clears up his deal with the team. Sebastian Vettel on the other hand, stated that he does not have any problem with the team’s decision either and that he
does not care who his teammate is as long as he is competitive.
However, RBR’s motorsport advisor Helmut Marko claims that Webber will retire after the 2012 Formula 1 season but now, Horner claims that it is not true and even the Australian driver claims that he is still having ‘fun’ in Formula 1.
“I am having fun and on Thursday will have a good conversation with Dietrich Mateschitz. During the summer break we will discuss it one way or the other, then we will know in the next few months,” said Webber.
The 34-year-old struggled to perform during the earlier stages of the 2011 Formula 1 season but he has improved noticeably and now he is on an even keel with his teammate and current championship leader Sebastian Vettel.
“The next victory will come when I least expect it. Just as with my first one. I have the feeling that I am getting stronger all the time. It's going in the right direction. Whether I'm here depends ultimately on my motivation and whether I can race at the
top level. At the moment it looks as though I will keep going,” he added.
However, Webber still claims that he needs time to think about his future after the 2012 Formula 1 season in the sport and that he has not decided anything yet.
