Mark Webber believes huge decisions need to be made for 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that he believes there are some huge decisions which are needed to be made regarding the Bahrain Grand Prix which is going to be held at Bahrain International Circuit on April 22, 2012.
The Kingdom of Bahrain is facing blazing conditions of civil unrest and public demonstrations and the human rights activists have been passing out the statements to cancel the race. However, the race organizers and Bernie Ecclestone, F1 chief executive have
been quite certain about the occurrence of the event.
Moreover, Ecclestone said that all the necessary measures needed to ensure the safety of the teams and the spectators have been made.
The Australian driver, Webber has expressed that the situation in Bahrain is indeed very delicate and he hopes that FIA would have made the right decision about the race event.
“There is no beating about the bush, it is sensitive out there,” Webber said. “We get lots of view points from there, both sides. I get constantly reminded on Twitter. If there was no social networking, it would be interesting to see what the situation would
be. But we can only go on what the FIA are reading into the situation. Obviously we are putting an immense amount of trust into the FIA - I'm not talking about the drivers, I'm talking about you guys (the media), photographers, catering everybody going to
and from that track each day.”
In addition, he said that there are some substantial decisions which are to be taken pertaining to the Bahrain GP. He added that he wanted to go to Sakhir for the race.
On the other hand, Damon Hill, former F1 driver said that FIA should re-think about the race in Bahrain.
Nonetheless, FIA declared that they have been consistently observing and persistently evaluating the situation in Bahrain.
Besides, Ecclestone said that the people in Bahrain have nothing to do with the F1 and they are concerned with their own business so there is no point to cancel the race.
Additionally, the 82-year-old said that media should only focus on reality rather than making up stories about the ongoing affairs.
