  1. "these dogs" have often got it wrong

so there is another highly likely explanation

whatever scents they detected, none of them was the scent of the dead body of the girl

will it stop the bored conspiracy theorists?

    nope

  2. Corpses stink, our dead bodies secrete a chemical when we die, that smell ficking terrible, this smell will remain for many months or even years it may not be detectable to the human nose for a while, but a trained sniffer dog will detect the scent long after we cant smell it,

What worries me about muts is Why do they stick their noses right up each others @rses if they have SUCH a good sense of smell.

  3. i don't think you would need a dog to smell a rotting corpse,  that is why the embalm and bury 6 feet underground  nasty and once you smell it you will never forget

  4. Hi Dolly. The scent was found on Kate, (washed cuddle cat), clothes and various areas in the apartment and outside. Also on the key fob and in the hired car. These human cadaver dogs are highly trained and only detect human death scent and human blood, which was also found in the apartment and hired car. So I guess Kate must have been surrounded by dead bodies before her holiday! as for washed cuddle cat??! But there is a lot more explosive information, which undoubtedly confirms the PJ's rightful suspicion.

This is very disturbing to say the least but those who seek justice won't be silenced.

  5. They're both doctors Dolly.Doctors come in to contact with dead bodies in their daily work.

Shady:Come in to contact in their daily work NOT come in to contact every day.No need to swear pet.Helps if you concentrate when reading others answers.:)

  6. well Kate claims that she was in contact with SIX dead bodies just before she left for the holiday and that, according to her, is why the dogs caught a scent.

not sure why there was a scent on cuddle cat though, maybe Kate brings cuddle cat to work with her sometimes?

A little about dogs used in the U.S.A. scroll down to para. Blood trace and corpse searching.

  8. The body emits a gas that can only be simulated post mortom , the gas can not be trapped in substance to be read for D.N.A purpose , it can only be scented not collected and these dogs are trained for that specific scent and that scent only.

Lets say that Gerry was snorting some cocaine  and a few grammes fell on the floor, well the dog would not give an indication despite the fact he can scent it, he would carry on scenting for the death gas and let Kate moss take care of snorting the coke , hope this helps dolly.

Misty blue Kate is a G.PA if she was coming into contact with her Patience's dieing on a daily bases I would have thought she would have had not patience at all,FFS an undertaker does not come in contact with that amount of dead bodies and as for Gerry last I heard he read papers and scans about the heart, and would not be in contact with the living patients let alone the dead ones.

Misty the definition of "Daily" is every day" to do every day is daily , but it is nice to see you at least acknowledge  that the appartment did contain the death scent, I think what the Dogs scented is what is known as a "scent pool" = dead body on site.

AND HERE COMES MICHEAL  WITH THE SUN   SO IT MUST BE TRUE WHAT MISTY SAYS ,, REACHES FOR ANOTHER JOINT LOL

  9. The two dogs that were sent to Portugal are very highly trained. I saw them along with the handler on tv the other night and after a demonstration of their capabilities you'd be left in no doubt as to what they found. One searches for death or the remains thereof and the other blood. The one who seeks out remains, barks when something is found and the other just stares at where blood was, unmoving.  The handler went on to say they found both and don't think they would not of checked if someone had died there previously. They went on to find scent in various locations, connected to this case.

  10. if there was any useable evidence that the dead body of madeleine was in the apartment , dont you think the police would have used it to prosecute the mccanns? or perhaps they are daft, and you are the only person to wonder about it?

  11. They didnt find the scent of a body, they found the scent of old blood. This could have been anything, how many times do you cut yourself and wipe it up and forget?

  12. GOD HAS GIVEN TO DOGS TO KNOW THE PERSON ND CAN IDENTIFY

I HVE EXPERINSE INCE I WAS A jAILOR AND 7 DOGS ARE WITH ME FOR 3 YRS?

  13. Yeah, I have known sniffer-dogs to be wrong.  Some years ago, we were visited by one of the government ministers of the day - cant' remember who and the sniffer dogs came round (with the "ghost-busters").  This was an "explosives" sniffer dog, trained to bark at explosives.  Bless it, it went doo-lally at my handbag.  I was so embarrassed: any way, I had to empty it.  Oh my God, the things I had in there - no explosives or Semtex though.

  14. I also wondered how long the scent may have been there - was there a previous unrelated death in the property some months or years ago and the smell remained for the dogs to pick up?  Sorry this is not an answer!

    V. interesting question ....

  15. Dogs trained to react to the scent of death (cadaver dogs) are able to sniff out remains that may be over 100 years old.

They cannot tell you how old the scent is, they simply indicate a scent may be present.

  16. Despite the 5 thumbs down misty blue is quite right. If you take the trouble to read the end of this link it will explain why.

  17. You would expect the dog to pick up the scent of anyone who had lived there. I don't understand your question
