Ya I have a 12" kicker cvr and i was playing around with it and when you push down on the sub, you could hear a grinding noise from it. Is this normal? because the sub still plays? or is it time to get a new one?

  1. If the grinding noise is with sub off, then it sounds like dirt in the coil. If its with sub playing then its you making your amp distort by pushing on the cone.

  2. Well bud, if you have the money for a new one then i would say beat the h**l out of your current one and if it does blow then get yourself a new one. As for the grinding noise that is not normal. Sounds as if something is wrong with your voice coil. It is really the only thing that is in close quarters with anything else and would generally be the only thing that would produce a grinding noise.

  3. No it's fine. The voice coil inside of it is what is making the noise. As long as it still plays fine, you're good. But I'd stop pressing on it, though, or you might s***w it up.
