Are the amount of off-field controversies surrounding England players all to do with the money they are paid?

Partly, but they need to learn to be more responsible. Footballers are targets for people who can exploit them and make their name or money off them, and so they need to learn more discipline. They are not all the same though, and many players do lots of charity work and are good role models.
