Indianapolis Colts turn to undrafted agents to fill holes at different positions in squad-NFL News
Indianapolis Colts sought to strengthen its defence by adding several new undrafted free agent defensemen to the roster.
Colts did not pick a defensive player in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, but added as many as five undrafted defensive players to the squad a couple of days after the closure of the draft market.
Altogather, the management signed 15 undrafted players on respective unspecified deals.
One of the prominent players is Wisconsin's Antonio Fenelus. He was Badgers' most valuable player, and in light of that, Colts are hopeful of him proving his worth with them.
Colts, who have been preoccupied with their vows at the quarterback situation, were unable to focus with the same amount of energies and resources at other positions.
Colts is one of the sides to have completely overhauled its squad, coming into the next season with a new QB along with other new players at some positions.
Its not just the squad, Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, has also replaced the head coach, assistant coaches, general manager and vice president of the team.
They were all released as a result of the team’s poor show-off last season.
The 2011 NFL season was the most disappointing time in Colts' history.
The team was unable to win a game until the 14th game of the season, before pulling two unexpected victories before the end of the season on a losing note, the same way they started.
Now Irsay has expressed confidence in the side with respect to its ability to bounce back next season.
He particularly has great expectations from rookie quarterback, Andrew Luck.
Luck, who has heard and seen a lot about Peyton Manning, has admitted that it is not to going to be easy at all to walk in the shoes of the star who had set very high standards during his 14-year career in Indianapolis.
Irrespective of Luck’s humble attitude, the owner is optimistic about the rookie to be a Peyton Manning of his own era.
