  1. If there were 4 of you in total on the lease, 4 of you are responsible for that last month of rent, plus any breakage of lease clauses. If this happened very recently, I would talk to the rental company and let them know of your financial situation, and that you would like to work with them to pay off the amount due. If this is something you have let pass for a month or two prior to posting your question, the situation will only get worse with your credit score and credit history.

19 is not the time in your life to set yourself up for failure. My sister developed bad credit in her teens, and it has cost her SEVERAL times more than the amount due to the creditor. For example, most people get a car loan for between 5-8%. She was paying 18%. That's like putting it on a credit card. Very foolish. If the others on the lease are irresponsible and there is no way to coax them to help pay, you will have to suck it up to at least save yourself and YOUR credit. They will pay for it in the long run.

Step up and be responsible for it now. You will seriously regret it in the future and it will end up costing you much much more. Many employers run a credit check on you too. They figure "If they can't be responsible with their own money, why should I hire them or trust them with my business money." If you get any overpayments to your student account from grants, loans, ect, use that money to pay it off.  It is worth talking to them and work out some type of repayment plan.

Also take a look at how much money on things you don't need every month. Starbucks? Ringtones? Fast food? Movies? Cut back and get a hold of your financial life before it is too late.

  2. should only stay there for 7 years on your credit

    education is expensive - huh?

    were you the only signer??

yes- the other three are off scott free then

maybe you can get it wiped off - if you pay the judgement

    education is REALLY expensive

  3. You already said it, the only thing left is to pay the judgment.

This will make not only renting hard in the future but could effect your ability to get a job, you have proven yourself to be untrustworthy.

  4. better be upfront. . .they will probably check with past LL and/or pull credit check and find out

try to be more coherent in telling them than this posting

if you broke your lease and moved out, then you weren't evicted

LL can come after you for full amount all 4 of you owed in order to clear you. . . be careful. . . .have parents or attorney help in talking to them

  5. If you broke a lease, they probably have an amount for the broken lease fee and any damages on your credit.

If they evicted you, then you have a judgement against you on your credit and they probably filed you with a collection agency.

Most reputable Apartment communities will not take someone with this on their credit. You may want to look into renting a house from a private owner and stay away from any companies.

Evictions stay on your credit for 7 years, along with the filings. So until your 26 you'll be having this problem. It just warns other renters that you were previously irresponsible, and normally it holds true that the person will do the same thing again.
